Millennial Money: Living On $97K A Year In Los Angeles

Jason Lee makes $97,000 per year as the founder and CEO of Jubilee Media. The non-profit organization runs a YouTube channel that has over 6 million subscribers where it creates content.

As a Korean American and son of immigrants, he grew up in a low-income family. He also grew not seeing himself being represented in the mainstream news.

Because of this, Lee has always cared about building a diverse company. He knows what it is like being a minority and being marginalized.

Lee’s monthly budget is $5,328 per month. Him and his wife evenly split the $2,800 of rent they pay per month.

“We generally have always agreed on our finances,” he said. “Not down to the dollar, but how do we want to use our money and what do we care about?”

Looking ahead, his idea of success isn’t about making a lot of money, but about making a difference. One way he does this is by donating $400 per month to his church and organizations like “Hate is a Virus.”

“I want to make a difference, and I want to make something that I’m proud of, and I want to say that I’ve left an impact,” he said.
